www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Subscribers of T-Mobile in the Czech Republic can expect to enjoy advanced 3G data and multimedia services thanks to a faster mobile broadband network.

The upgraded 3G network is based on the energy-efficient Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Multiradio Base Stations and HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) technology. It is expected to be launched in Prague by the end of the year.

The agreement between T-Mobile and Nokia Siemens Networks signed this month will offer a number of benefits to customers, but in particular the availability of high-speed mobile data services. HSPA technology is one of the latest developments in 3G mobile networks. The main advantage it provides to customers is high-speed data transfers with download and upload peak rates of up to 14.4 Mbps and 5.7 Mbps respectively. Such performance will create a DSL-like user experience. Moreover, the technology to be installed, will prepare the ground for the roll-out of the next generation of mobile networks.

The statistics show that EBITDA dropped by 19.6% to EUR 127 million, in comparison to a period year ago. Also EBITDA margin stands at 46.2%, down from 50.8% in first quarter of 2008. The operator ended Q1 with a subscriber base of 5.411 million, a downfall in comparison to Q4 subscriber base, which stood at 5.422 million but up 2.6% from a year ago. The subscribers in prepaid kitty are 2.867 million, with a loss of 55,000 and postpaid segment stands at 2.544 million with a gain of 45,000 subscribers from December. Blended ARPU in Q4′08 was EUR 20, in Q1 it stood at EUR 16. Moreover, subscriber acquisition plunged to EUR 27 from EUR 32 in Q4 and EUR 33 a year earlier.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Telefonica O2 Czech republic has inked an agreement with T-Mobile Czech Republic to sort out their disputes over prices for mutual interconnection of telecommunication networks in 2001. As per the terms of agreement, Telefonica O2 will get nearly CZK 900 million (USD 45 million) from rival operator T-Mobile, with all court proceedings terminated. The amount will be booked in Q2.
