Nokia Siemens Networks to participate in large scale China TD-LTE trial
With the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MIIT), Nokia Siemens Networks has become one of the first telecommunications equipment vendors to participate in the large-scale TD-LTE trial with China Mobile.
Nokia Siemens Networks will offer its commercial 2.3GHz/2.6GHz TD-LTE equipment, professional services and management software to conduct the major field trial in Hangzhou.
Nokia Siemens Networks has already completed both 2.3 and 2.6GHz outdoor, and 2.3GHz indoor, single-system testing with TD-LTE. The company is one of the first global vendors to be selected for the large-scale TD-LTE field trials with China Mobile. In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks has conducted interoperability tests of its TD-LTE equipment with a number of TD-LTE devices of major suppliers. As stated by MIIT, Nokia Siemens Networks will cooperate with China Mobile to accelerate network construction, equipment installation, and network optimization according to the overall requirements and plan of the large-scale TD-LTE trial in Hangzou.
Nokia Siemens Networks has built a complete TD-LTE business in China, integrating procurement, production, testing and maintenance with its Hangzhou R&D Center at the center of this value chain,†said Markus Borchert, head of Greater China customer operations at Nokia Siemens Networks. The approval by MIIT confirms our long-term support for TDLTE and our leadership driving the global ecosystem for unpaired frequency bands.â€
In addition to its market-leading Single RAN Advanced radio equipment, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide network planning and network optimization services to ensure sustained network quality and performance. Configuration, monitoring and optimization for this project will be based on the company’s Network Management System, NetAct.
Huawei contracted by GlobeNet to build DWDM link
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: For the deployment of an international fibre link between North and South America, Chinese equipment provider Huawei Technologies has been hired by US-based backbone operator GlobeNet.
Huawei’s upgradeable NG-DWDM platform will be used by GlobeNet to connect its cable landing station in southern New Jersey including New York, Brazil, Venezuela, Bermuda, Florida and beyond.
OSN 6800 NG-DWDM OTN optical platform hardware will be provided by Huawei and it will also upgrade the software of GlobeNet’s existing iManager T2000 Network Management System (NMS). 10Gbps, 40Gbps, and future 100Gbps wavelengths will be supported by the network solution to competitively deliver advanced, high bandwidth services.
Hutchison 3G Austria modernizes its network for HSPA+ and LTE
Hutchison 3G Austria is modernizing its radio access network to be ready for HSPA+ and the next generation of mobile broadband, or LTE. At the same time this step will allow the operator to halve the energy consumption of its base stations. Nokia Siemens Networks will undertake this upgrade starting in autumn 2009.
The demand for increased mobile broadband capacity and throughput in Austria is reflected in the increasing usage of data cards and mobile services like Mobile TV, video download or video sharing,†said Berthold Thoma, CEO of Hutchison 3G Austria. Mobile broadband is also one of the most pragmatic solutions to bridging the digital gap between cities and rural areas. For rural areas, mobile broadband coverage is simply less expensive and faster to deploy than fiber to the home†solutions. We hope that with our nationwide coverage we will contribute significantly to this end.†(more…)
Unity Wireless Receives US$400,000 Purchase Order for GSM Repeaters From a Turkish Wireless Network Operator
BURNABY, BC — (MARKET WIRE) — August 21, 2006 — Unity Wireless Corporation (OTCBB: UTYW), a supplier of wireless systems and coverage-enhancement solutions, has received a US$400,000 purchase order for a variety of the Company’s GSM Repeaters from a wireless network operator in Turkey. The order is scheduled to be delivered in the current quarter.Ilan Kenig, President and CEO of Unity Wireless commented, “We are pleased to see that following our recent acquisitions our repeater product line is gaining recognition in new territories and with new clients around the world. Unity is now positioned as a global-based company with physical operations in several countries around the world, including the USA, Canada, Israel, China, South America, India, the UK, and Taiwan. Our increased ability to support our clients is expected to positively impact our top and bottom lines this year.”
Mr. Kenig added, “We are focused intently on driving our sales higher, maximizing product line opportunities and channel partner relationships. With the broader product offering we now have, we expect orders such as this one will become a very frequent event.”
Each of these repeaters provide exceptional coverage due to their low noise figures and high gain, while having minimal impact on the donor cell, using wide range gain control for performance optimization. Hermetically sealed enclosures, integrated electronics and built-in test and recovery capabilities also make these repeaters extremely reliable. Additional features include auto level control for power overload protection and an SMS-based NMS (Network Management System) tool that can allow network operators to monitor and control the repeaters remotely through an internal wireless modem.
“The global sales team and distribution network we now have as a result of our recent acquisitions are directly responsible for this order,” said David Orton, Vice President, Sales – Coverage Solutions. “After bidding in an open tender to supply this new customer we expect that this will likely be the first of many substantial orders that we will receive this year.”
Repeaters are used by operators of wireless networks to fill-in gaps in their coverage areas where the cost to install an entire base station and its related infrastructure is prohibitive. Unity Wireless offers a full range of repeaters in multiple configurations, serving operators of CDMA, GSM and WCDMA (UMTS) networks in 800, 900, 1800, 1900 and 2100 MHz bands. The Company intends to offer additional product lines to support the deployment of WiMax networks using OFDM modulation.
