Brazilian regulator Anatel to auction H band in June

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Brazil’s H Band for 3G mobile services will be auctioned off by the telecoms regulator Anatel in June 2010. Nextel Telecomunicacoes is one company which is already in contention for the spectrum. Around 44 concessions are expected to be auctioned with starting bids expected to be around BRL2.8 billion (USD1.5 billion).

20MHz, or 10MHz each in the 1945MHz-1955MHz and 2135MHz-2145MHz bands are comprised by the so- called Band H spectrum which will be assigned to new operators only. Two different MVNO models are also been considered by the operator one of which proposes to license large supermarket chains to offer MVNO products.
