www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Nokia and Telecom Italia have teamed up for bringing Nokia Messaging, an easy-to-use and convenient messaging service. The subscribers will be able to operate the Nokia Messaging push email service, from mid-Sept.
This agreement contributes to the evolution of the mobile phone that will increasingly be a tool to access one’s ecosystem of private, family and professional content. TIM believes in this evolution and wants to experience it alongside its customers,” stated Oscar Cicchetti, Head of Domestic Market in Telecom Italia.

With this service, Nokia and Telecom Italia join forces to drive mobile messaging adoption for their customers using Nokia solutions and Telecom Italia special data plans. We are glad to satisfy the growing consumer demand to access email accounts directly from the device whenever they want, wherever they are. The objective is to bring mobile email to everyone and make it easily accessible to the largest number of users possible,” explained Alessandro Mondini Branzi, General Manager, Nokia Italia.

Telecom Italia and Nokia have conformed to offer Nokia Messaging service with some 30 Nokia Symbian devices which include Nokia E75, Nokia E55, Nokia N97 alongside the Nokia E71 and Nokia N95 8GB. Users merely need to enter their email address and passwords in order to get emails pushed directly onto the homescreen of their mobile phones. With ease and comfort, users will be able to read, send, forward and reply to emails, read and attach files at the same time.

With the upcoming E71 and E66 smartphones, Nokia is planning to offer the option of connecting to other e-mail services, apart from RIM’s BlackBerry Connect e-mail system.

Simon Ainslie, Nokia’s UK managing director, in an interview with Mobile magazine said, “RIM is a competitor and has done a reasonable job in a space that is traditionally ours, so it’s no great surprise that we see this as an opportunity to give consumers a proper choice on what e-mail solutions they want.” Furthermore, he elaborated, “Our approach is to make e-mail a mass-market proposition for everybody, not just for the corporate boardroom group of individuals where BlackBerry has established itself.”
The recently launched Nokia E71 is the latest smartphone to lack the BlackBerry Connect feature – leaving owners to rely on Nokia Email service which is still in beta.
