Marvelous, Interactive agency has come up with an application for Nokia phones which will remind users of the upcoming birthdays of their friends. The name of the application is ‘Friends Birthdays For Facebook’, and it functions by connecting a user’s mobile with his facebook account.

It thus saves all the birthday related data on the user’s mobile and alerts him when anybody’s birthday approaches. The application also provides its customers the choice to quickly create and send his friend a mobile birthday card.

For security reasons, the application only uses birthday information which is publicly available on social networking websites in most of the cases. The app is available on Nokia handsets and can alsobe downloaded free of cost from the Nokia Ovi Store.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Delaware judge who has been overseeing the lawsuits between Apple and Nokia has been asked by the latter to toss Apple’s claims that Nokia is engaging in monopolistic behavior. It has been claimed by Apple that Nokia is demanding unreasonable royalties for wireless patents and it is in a breach of contract.

Nokia on the other hand has alleged that apple’s allegations are designed to divert attention away from free-riding off of Nokia’s intellectual property. Revisionist history, misleading characterizations, unsupported allegations and flawed and contradictory legal theories to turn these fruitless negotiations into a multi-count federal lawsuit are also some other allegations made by Nokia against Apple.

It has also been indicated by Nokia that financial terms regarding some of the patents in question were tried to be sorted out by the two companies but both of them were not able to reach any conclusion. Lawsuits have been filed by both the companies against each other and both of them also appealed to the U.S. International Trade Commission to block the import/export of one another’s handsets until the lawsuits are settled.

According to ITC, it will begin hearing evidence in October 2010, and it hopes to issue a final ruling by June 2011.

FCC has approved the recently announced Nokia C5. However an individual need not be too excited as this European version of the device, which 3G sings along 900 and 2100MHz3G bands. While AT&T works on 1900 and T Mobile on 1700 MHz, this move by Nokia to push the not for the USA device through FCC is obsolete, to say the least.

Not to be forgotten, the C5 is a low-cost smartphone. It comes with features like GPS, 3.2-megapixel camera, HSPA connectivity and Symbian S60. With an MSRP of $185 the model is expected to see the Finnish company moving tons of these in due course.
