Novatel Wireless boasts LTE Mi-Fi Router

­Novatel Wireless has boasted its first LTE capable Mi-Fi hotspot device, and has announced that it will be available on the Verizon Wireless network.

The device creates a local Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five users and uses the LTE network for the data traffic backhaul.

According to Marni Walden, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Verizon Wireless, with the popularity of the original Novatel Wireless Mi-Fi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot on the Verizon Wireless network, it made sense to introduce a Novatel Wireless device as the first 4G LTE Mi-Fi.

The 4G LTE Mi-Fi 4510L is compatible with the Verizon Wireless 3G network and includes new features, such as integrated status display on the device showing battery life, roaming and connectivity information.

Novatel Wireless Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit against Franklin Wireless and ZTE (California)

Novatel Wireless, Inc., a provider of wireless broadband access solutions, today announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Franklin Wireless Corp., ZTE Corp. and ZTE (USA), Inc. for infringing on five Novatel Wireless’ patents related to key architecture and functionality of the MiFi® family of Intelligent Mobile Hotspots. The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.

“Novatel Wireless invented the MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot and with that created a whole new product category in the wireless ecosystem,” said Peter Leparulo, Chairman and CEO of Novatel Wireless.  ”We’re confident that we will continue to lead the market, but competitors need to rely on their own inventions rather than infringe on ours,” Leparulo continued.

Zain to launch Wireless Mifi in Kuwait

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The Middle East and Africa operator Zain Group will soon launch Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot device, ‘Zain Mifi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot’ in Kuwait. The company will extend its services to the other countries later on.

This project will enable all the Zain customers to create their own Wi-Fi using their broadband connection. Apart from this, the connection can be also be shared with five Wi-Fi enables devices including laptops, smart phones, cameras, MIDS’s, UMPCs gaming devices or portable media players.

Zain customers can use this service in any of the other 20 Zain ‘One Network’ countries. The Mifi would not require any kind of installation or previously installed software and will be delivered by Novatel Wireless.

M1 inks deal with Novatel Wireless (Singapore)

Novatel Wireless Ramps Shipments of New EV-DO Rev A Products

Novatel Wireless today announced the introduction of three new EV-DO Rev. A products in the third quarter. All of these products, which span embedded module, PC Card, and USB form factors, are currently ramping shipments at major carrier or OEM customers. With these introductions, the total number of new products introduced in the third quarter was four — a record for the Company.

It features downlink data speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps (Megabits per second) and is backwards compatible with currently deployed EV-DO Rev 0 and CDMA 1xRTT technologies. In addition, the MCD3000 has wireless assisted global positioning capabilities and incorporates an advanced dual-band antenna system.

The Merlin M720 PC Card provides notebook users with the latest EV-DO technology on the market with backwards compatibility with EV-DO Rev 0 and 1xRTT networks as they evolve to the latest standard technology. The Expedite E720 PCI Express Mini Card Module features many of the same capabilities as the Merlin M720 PC Card, but allows the world’s leading OEMs to embed the module at board level.
