Safaricom launches ‘Okoa Jahazi’, an advance credit service (Kenya)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Safaricom has introduced a new service dubbed as Okoa Jahazi (Save the moment), enables it’s prepay subscribers to access airtime on credit and pay later.
With this service, initially prepay subscribers are allowed to access a KES 50 credit advance, applicable for calls and SMS to Safaricom lines only. The service fee of KES 5 will be charged from subscribers for the credit and they are required to repay the advance credit within three days using their next top-up. A subscriber who does not repay within 72 hours will not be allowed to use the facility again for a period of 30 days, while those with a pending balance will not be able to make another request.
In the beginning, only those subscribers can avail the service who have been on the network for at least 12 months, and whose usage for the previous week is more than KES 50.
