The number of applications is much higher than the company expected and its computer system is unable to cope. Softbank did not disclose whether it was gaining or losing market share since the introduction of number portability. Ahead of the introduction of the new rules, Softbank introduced low priced packages which offer free on-net calls.CEO Masao Nakamura of rival NTT DoCoMo said he was frustrated and upset at Softbank’s tactics. NTT DoCoMo saw a 7.4 percent decline in its first half profits and Nakamura accused Softbank of manipulating numbers when attacking competitor’s profits and unfair advertising.
