www.WirelessFederation.com/news: MTS, the CDMA based mobile telephony brand of Sistema Shyam Teleservices, is intending to become a pan-India mobile operator by expanding coverage by 2010.
The operator at present operators in six telecom circles across nation and now it anticipates to enter more circles over the next few months, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd Chief Operating Officer (TN and Kerala) Srinivasa Rao Saripalli, reportedly unveiled. With the expansion, the company hopes to achieve a ’significant’ subscriber base. “After the pan-India operation, our subscriber base should be significant,” he said.
Saripalli further said the company had aggressive growth plans and would soon launch it’s wireless internet services, mobile cards and various value-added services.

On GSM mobile technology, he said people prefer GSM because of it’s ‘legacy’. CDMA is the latest technology and mobile connections’ growth is dependent on it, he claimed.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd, the new entrant in the Indian mobile market, has reported inked a $70 million loan agreement with Bank of China Limited (under security of China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation Sinosure) as it makes investments in network expansion across India.
The loan will be used to source supplies from ZTE which has been selected by the operators to build its CDMA network. The loan will be for a period of eight years with three years of moratorium on principle repayment.
Speaking about the deal, Mr. Sergey Savchenko, CFO of Sistema Shyam TeleServices said, ”The deal with Bank of China is one of the many steps that we are taking to add impetus to our plan of establishing the MTS brand in India and differentiate positioning on parameters of robust infrastructure and quality network. This is the first facility arranged with an International bank and I believe that it offers a way for other large and beneficial agreements in the future.”

MTS India & TTSL ink roaming agreement

This will be the first time that the two private CDMA service providers in India would allow roaming of their subscribers on each others network.
T Narasimhan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sistema Shyam Teleservices Ltd quoted we have reached an agreement with Tata Teleservices to allow our customers to roam on their network when outside of their home networks as we do not have a pan India coverage yet we have had no issues reaching a commercial agreement with Tata Tele and our customers benefit from seamless coverage.

Sistema Shyam Teleservices, a JV between Russia-based Sistema and India’s Shyam Group, had launched the CDMA operations under the brand name MTS on 1 October 2008. The operator experienced a fast paced growth in last three months as it expanded its services from Rajasthan to three more circles including Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Kolkata covering 13% of the population in the country.

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd. [SSTL] has recently entered into a contract with ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions. SSTL intends to create a superior network with increased efficiency and extended reach. www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Sistema Shyam Teleservices, the Indian mobile operator, aims a subscriber base of 40 million in next 3-5 years of time as it rolls out its services in two or three telecom service areas every quarter.
The Indian operator aims to cover all of India by 2010, Chief Executive Vsevold Rozanov reportedly said.
The company offers services on a CDMA platform to four of India’s 22 circles, with RCom and Tata Teleservices as its rivals.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The IT firms are likely to grab outsourcing contracts worth up to $2Bn from the new entrants in the Indian mobile market like Swan Telecom, Unitech Wireless, Loop Telecom, ByCell Communications and Datacom. The operators are in talks with various IT vendors like Tech Mahindra, IBM, Wipro and Infosys.

“We will outsource all our IT operations, including setting up of IT networks and managing services. We have shortlisted four IT players and are in advanced talks to finalise one of them. The size of deal will be around $600 million for about 10 years,” Unitech Wireless executive director Rajeev Bawa said. The entrant is anticipated to close the deal next month.

Swan Telecom is reportedly in conversation with IT companies, including Tech Mahindra, Wipro and IBM, for a possible outsourcing deal. The deal, according to industry sources, will be worth $500 million.

Tech Mahindra marketing Vice-President Rajesh Chandiramani confirmed that the company has made presentations to ByCell and Swan Telecom. “Deals with the new telecom players can vary from $200 million to $1 billion in terms of size. We expect telcos to decide on their IT vendors soon,” Mr Chandiramani added.

ByCell’s plans to outsource its IT network remain stagnant at the moment, driven by administrative delays regarding grant of licence.

Sistema Shyam CEO & President Vsevelod Rozanov said “Our in-house IT team is currently managing the network and enterprise operations. We are exploring and evaluating options between in-house, managed services and outsourcing of IT services, and a partner will be chosen at an appropriate time,”.

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel, the established mobile operator of the country, was the first one to outsource its IT services in 2004 and the deal signed then was worth $750-million, a five year contract. Following the footsteps, Idea Cellular and Vodafone, inked IT outsourcing deals with American technology major.

Aircel, the operator spreading its wings across the nation, had awarded a nine year outsourcing contract to the Indian IT firm Wipro, worth $600 million.

Scheduled for implementation within the next three years, the two contracts are estimated to cost around USD 64.2 million.
According to the agreement, Sitronics will deliver, deploy and service its CRM and billing system. Sistema Shyam plans to use Sitronics’ CRM, billing platform to serve its growing subscriber base as well as streamline its internal business processes.
