In an effort to beef up its off-deck mobile content business, Leap Wireless International’s Cricket Communications unit inked a deal with Valista. As part of the agreement, Cricket will make use of Valista’s next-generation Managed Payments Service.
Under terms of the agreement, Valista’s Managed Payments Service will act as a bridge between external aggregators, content providers and Cricket’s internal billing infrastructure. Valista says its payments service features real-time authentication and authorization, which, according to the company, prevents unsolicited charging and provides transaction management, high throughput support and partner settlement capabilities.
“One of our key initiatives is to allow Cricket customers to participate in the wide choice of premium off-portal content available in the marketplace today,” says Larry Atwell, director of product development at Cricket.
Valista most recently forged a payment solutions contract with mBlox. Other Valista clients include Vodafone, Orange, AOL and NTT DoCoMo.
