Bhutan Telecom’s cellular subsidiary B-Mobile says it is increasing the capacity of its networks to combat clogging, which leaves subscribers unable to get a connection at peak times. The firm says the problem is most acute in the main urban areas in the early evening. Local news portal Kuensel Online reports that in the city of Thimphu there is just a 50% call success rate at peak times, while in Gelephu and Paro the rate is 33%. B-Mobile says it is doubling the network capacity in some areas, with the work expected to be completed by the end of this year. B-Mobile has around 70,000 subscribers, 98% of which use pre-paid options.
