Onet.pl introduces Symbian app for checking TV schedules (Poland)
Onet.pl, Poland’s portal, in cooperation with Nokia has introduced ‘Onet.pl Program application’ (Ovi Sklep) which allows customers to access schedules for 280 TV programmes.
The app works on Symbian 3 touch devices and older Symbian versions. It can also be used to select and bookmark a channel as well as check the channels recommended by Onet.
Presently, Onet is working on other applications for Symbian devices that it will roll out in the months to come.
Bulgaria to get CallMyName on 1 June
Service for mobile communication CallMyName will be launched in Bulgaria on 1 June. CallMyName uses personal and corporate names rather than dialing mobile phone numbers.
After Bulgaria, the service will be launched in the following countries: Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Serbia, Italy and Croatia.
Any company or person can use their name as a number by using CallMyName (CMN). The service brings together the name of each subscriber with their telephone number, website, Facebook profile and Skype name. Each of the registered names is always accessible from anywhere.
CMN intends to change the calling habits of users in Bulgaria and around the world in mobile phone dialling and simplify communication. Using CMN is free of charge and possible from any mobile device with internet connection. Moreover, Call My Name will provide Android and iPhone applications which will be free to download from its website.
Play launches Samsung S5570 Galaxy Mini (Poland)
Play, Poland’s mobile operator has launched the offer for Samsung S5570 Galaxy Mini smartphone, with prices starting at US$0.35 and running to US$213.
The handset is powered with Android 2.2 and features a 3.14-inch TFT-screen and a 3 megapixel photo-camera; it supports HSDPA, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and microSD up to 32GB. It has an internal memory of 160 MB.
Polkomtel reduces acquirers list (Poland)
Polkomtel has reduced its list of potential buyers to two which is the telecommunications group controlled by Zygmunt Solorz-Zak and TeliaSonera.
According to reports, the winner will be announced in a few weeks.
Regenersis offers new facility in Warsaw (Poland)
Regenersis, mobile phone recycling services provider has announced the opening of a third facility in Poland to support the rapid expansion of its mobile business.
The new 1600 m2 facility, on the outskirts of Warsaw is dedicated to Sony Ericsson, Samsung and HTC. It is estimated that the facility will handle approximately 30k to 50k units per month. The combined operation in Poland currently handles approximately 130k units per month supporting customers including Acer, Apple, Huawei, Nokia, Orange, Play, Polkomtel, and T-Mobile. The new facility also has expansion capability of 100%, if required.

Orange Poland introduces Samsung Chat 335 for Zetafon customers (Poland)
Orange Poland has started offering the Samsung Chat 335 smartphone for pre-paid subscribers on its Zetafon network.
The Samsung chat 335 is QWERTY keyboard fitted phone, which has been designed especially for Social networking and instant messaging freaks, therefore it obviously holds number of exciting features including direct SNS apps, instant messenger and live messenger chat along with the other advanced features like 2.0 megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity, multiple codec playable media players, push email, FM radio etc.
The smartphone is offered for US$0.36 online and for US$28.73 in retail outlets.
Polkomtel trials mobile banking (Poland)
Polkomtel has started testing mobile banking services, in cooperation with Bank Zachodni WBK.
Trials will continue for two months, using a selected group of operator subscribers who are also customers of the bank. Polkomtel plans to launch mobile banking services in the second half of the year.
Plus launches SMSes to Facebook (Poland)
Plus has launched an service to Facebook. Customers can also receive SMS messages from the social network. All text messages will be charged at the normal rate.
HTC Flyer tablet hits major European markets
HTC has announced that the new HTC Flyer tablet is now available across major markets in the EMEA region from 13 May.
The device is available as a Wi-Fi only or a combined 3G/Wi-Fi model, and will also be available to buy in store and online from the HTC.com website.
The combined 3G and Wi-Fi HTC Flyer features 32 GB of onboard memory which can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 32 GB and will retail at US$914.89.
A second variant will be available for US$704 with Wi-Fi connectivity only and expandable 16GB memory.
From 13 May, the device will be available in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania.
