www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Warid Telecom has inked seperate deals with three International Gateway (IGW) operators – Mir Telecom, Bangla Trac Communications Limited and NovoTel for routing international calls to and from Warid network.
The agreements were signed complying to the ILDTS (International Long Distance Telecommunications Services) policy 2007 & directives of BTRC, which makes it mandatory for all mobile operators to establish a physical and logical interconnection with IGW operators for routing both international outgoing & incoming calls.
Muneer Farooqui, CEO Warid Telecom said, “These agreements will create a win-win situation for both Warid Telecom and the IGW operators as these agreements will facilitate the companies to share revenues among them as per BTRC’s ILDTS policy & directives.”

The subscribers would receive free information on services, tourist sites, hotels, taxis, foreign exchange rates and weather forecasts, according to Viettel. The packages are available in US$5 and $10 and international calls are charged at VND3,240 ($0.18) per minute and an international messaging at VND2,160 ($0.12) per message.

Viettel Deputy Director Nguyen Viet Dung said that Viet Nam welcomed around 4 million foreign visitors each year and telecommunications were a basic service to be offered during their stay in the country. Tourist SIM would be sold at airports, tourist sites, hotels and resorts, he said.

The original time period for the offer was 20:00hrs to 08:00 hrs, which has now been changed to 18:00hrs and end at 06:00hrs, as the subscribers suggested for a time push back. All Mobily subscribers except Rihal subscribers, can call during this time period at a charge of SAR 0.55 per minute for international calls to all destinations, except satellite phones until 18 May.

The Qatar based mobile operator has introduced a series of new Friends and Family packs, which reduces the cost of international calls by 25% for subscribers’ most important numbers. The Friends and Family packs allow subscribers to choose three international numbers important to them and enjoy 25% discount on international tariffs on these calls.
These packs are also available for Hala Pay As You Talk subscribers. The service is subjected to activation fees and monthly charges.

The call charges for the visitors visiting Moscow and making international calls to Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine is RUB 1 per minute. The call charges to other Teply priyem in Moscow is RUB 0.50 per minute, starting with the second minute of a conversation. The subscriber can avail this service at MegaFon-Moscow stores and e-shop in the Moscow region.

Mobily, mobile operator of Saudi Arabia has launched special discounts for prepaid and postpaid subscribers enabling them to make international calls for SAR 0. 55 after the first minute. The rates are applied from 20:00 to 08:00 hours every day until 18 May. The subscribers of Rehal package, international roamers and satellite phone users can not enjoy this discount. Mobily also announced that all prepaid and postpaid subscribers will get 30 minutes of free video calls to other Mobily numbers. The 30 minutes are valid for three months from the date of subscription. The subscriber can activate this service by sending an SMS 1100 containing the code VC.

Tunisiana, the Tunisian incumbent, launches a promotion for its prepaid or Business Control subscribers who make international calls. The new promotion is dubbed as Happy Zone Promotion, will offer call tariffs reduced by 30% to upto three international phone numbers. This promotional offer is valid till 27 April’09. In order to earn the benefits of the promotion the subscribers will have to pay $1,725/number every week.
Currently, the standard price of overseas calls made by Tunisiana subscribers is $0.21/min for Maghreb countries, $0.27 for fixed numbers and $0.37 for mobile numbers in France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy and the UK, $0.37 for the rest of Europe, the Middle East, North America and Australia, $0.45 for Africa and East Asia, and $0.55 for the rest of the world.
