VimpelCom has announced its financial results, and has reported that its Q4’10 revenues rose by 22% to US$2.8 billion, and net income jumped sharply by 62.7% to US$461.2 million. For the full year, revenues rose by 20.8% to US$10.5 billion, while net income was up by 49.2% to US$1.7 billion.

For the full year, the number of mobile subscriptions increased to 92.7 million an increase of 43.5% y-o-y; broadband subscriptions grew to 3.8 million showing an increase of 66.2% year on year.

Capex was $2.2 billion; Capex to revenue ratio was 21.2%, reflecting a significant step up in 4Q10.

Globe Telecom, Philippines’ second largest telecommunications group, has posted a net income of US$225.2 million for 2010, a loss of 22% from US$287.96 million a year earlier, and below the market expectations of net income of US$233.67 million.

Core net income declined to US$208.01 million as compared to US$275 million in the previous year, on revenues of US$1.42 billion, from US$1.43 billion.

According to the company, its net profit in the fourth quarter of 2010 was US$52.69 million, higher than consensus forecast of US$50.39 million. The Q4 gains were attributed to the addition of more cellular phone customers.

Saudi Arabia’s second-largest telecoms operator, Mobily has posted 39% percent rise in fourth-quarter net profit on higher use of services and more broadband subscribers.

According to the company, net profit in the quarter reached US$389.1 million, up from 1.05 billion a year earlier.

Mobily in a separate statement stated that it plans to pay a dividend of US$0.53 for 2010. The firm made revenue of US$4.26 billion in the fourth quarter compared with US$3.47 billion in 2009, because of higher utilization rates. Broadband users exceeded 2.3 million, without providing a comparative figure. Net profit for the full-year surged 40% to US$1.12 billion.

Mobily benefits from its affiliation with Emirates Telecommunications, its biggest shareholder with a 27.4% stake, which grants it cost-competitive access to networks partially or wholly owned by the UAE-based firm.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Due to the fall in the service revenues, the fourth quarter net profits of Brazilian telecoms operator Telecomunicacoes de Sao Paulo (Telesp) went down 24.7% and totaled BRL544.8 million (USD294 million).

Fourth quarter losses reached BRL51.2 million, compared with a loss of BRL43.5 million in the year-ago period. Net revenues went down from BRL4.1 billion in 4Q08 to BRL3.9 billion in 4Q09 and EBITDA dipped 6.4% year-on-year to BRL1.39 billion.

The full-year net profits of the company stood at BRL2.17 billion last year, down 10.2% y-o-y and EBITDA reached BRL5.87 billion (down 10.4%).

Omantel Q4 net profit rises by 5%

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: 5% year-on-year increase in the net profit to OMR125.2 million (USD323.9 million) has been reported by Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel). However, due to increased competitions, sales rose by less than 1% to OMR412 million while net income after tax climbed to OMR125 million during 2009 from OMR119 million.

In a in a move to reduce costs and make savings starting 2010 onwards , the company expects to make savings of about OMR2.8 million from voluntary redundancies it offered in 2009.

4Q09 net profit at OMR19.4 million is based on previous financial statements and is up from OMR9.7 million in the same quarter.
