Telecom Fiji has confirmed that there is no change in national calls also known as interregional calls.
According to Group Manager, marketing and Public Relations, Vanessa Kilner, all national calls will cost 16 cents VAT inclusive per minute like before. National call means calls starting from number 3 to any number starting with 6 or 8 and vice versa. It is calling long distance from a region to another region which would be calling from Suva in the Central-Eastern region to Labasa in the Northern region or Nadi in the Western division.
Though, Vanessa Kilner stated that, in terms of local call rates, there has been a change to this as Telecom has reconfigured its system to provide easy comparison against mobile rates.
As for the local calls, the local regions are these: Yasawa, Rakiraki, Tavua, Ra, Nadi and Sigatoka come under the Western region whereas Korolevu, Deuba, Navua, Suva, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, Gau, Batiki and Koro come under the Central/Eastern region.
Labasa, Seaqaqa, Taveuni and Savusavu come under the Northern region and calls within these regions are 8 cents per minute.
However, any call made from one region to another will cost a TFL customer 16 cents per minute.
