The Samsung Galaxy features a 3.5-inch AMOLED touch screen, 5 Megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, Google applications, media player, and 8 GB of memory, expandable to 40 GB. It uses the Android version 1.5 (Cupcake).

But market analysts unveil that the launch is not likely happen in 2009 holiday season. However, when it will come, the new Palm handset should have a low price on contract, in order to be competitive with AT&T’s other smartphones.

HTC further revealed that it now wants to shift its focus to mid-end smartphones for the rest of the year. According to Peter Chou, mid-end handsets will account for about 50-60% of the company’s shipments in the second half of 2009.
He further said mid-end smartphones should have a retail price of about $300. Most probably, the Android-powered HTC Click will be among these upcoming devices.

According to a media report, Dell is in talks with China Mobile to offer a smartphone operating on TD-SCDMA band. The deal is likely to close by Aug-end and will boost Dell’s presence in China. The phone will be built on China Mobile’s modified Android platform dubbed as Open Mobile System (OMS), that allows China Mobile to integrate its own set of apps.

Yeon-hak, Kim, KT, CFO, said, “Apple iPhone will be in our smartphone line-up. [We expect that the] iPhone will help to expand the smartphone market and will contribute to increasing the ARPU.”
On the other hand, SK Telecom also reveals that it is in talks with Apple to introduce the iPhone as well. If the deal is achieved in Korea, then Apple’s iPhone will not be sold through an exclusive operator unlike other countries, including the U.S., Japan, and China.
