BlackBerry Curve becomes USA’s best-selling smartphone in Q1’09, moves past iPhone
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Verizon Wireless’ buy-one-get-one promotion has led to a boost in the sales of RIM BlackBerry Curve which has moved past Apple iPhone to become nation’s hot-selling smartphone in Q1’09. According to a recent report, RIM’s market share rose by 15% to nearly 50% of the total smartphone market in Q1, whereas Apple and Palm experienced a drop of 10% each.
In Q1’09, are top-five best-selling smartphones are RIM BlackBerry Curve (all 83XX models); Apple iPhone 3G (all models); RIM BlackBerry Storm; RIM BlackBerry Pearl (all models, except flip); and T-Mobile G1.The report further says that smartphones, which represented 17% of handset sales volume in the Q1’08, now make up 23% of sales.
