The MetroPCS Communications initial public offering (IPO) is once again a go. The company has filed a registration statement with the SEC and plans to offer as much as $1.13 billion in common stock.
The net proceeds will be used to further build out MetroPCS’ network and related infrastructure, as well as for general corporate purposes, the company said in the SEC filing.
This is not the first time MetroPCS has put an IPO on the table. In July 2004, the wireless communications provider shelved its planned IPO because of accounting issues. It was expected to raise $504 million.
MetroPCS serves parts of California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Texas
In the fall of 2006, MetroPCS unveiled a new ringback tone service called GreetMe Tones, powered by Preferred Voice Technologies. The GreetMe Tones service enables users to assign ringback tones to individual callers or to a caller group. The service also gives subscribers the choice of creating a playlist, which will allow callers to hear a different tone each time they call.
