Vodafone Fiji Chooses Intervoice to Upgrade its Pre-paid Platform

DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Intervoice, Inc. (NASDAQ: INTV), a world leader in converged voice and data solutions, has announced that Vodafone Fiji has chosen to upgrade its existing pre-paid platform to Intervoices Intelligent Network (IN). The new contract will provide additional capacity to accommodate expected growth in the operators prepaid subscriber base and enable Vodafone Fiji to support a wider range of prepaid services. The contract was awarded during the Companys second fiscal quarter that ended August 31, 2006, following a competitive tender with leading IN vendors. The Intervoice upgrade is the latest in the successful partnership with Vodafone Fiji that started in 1999. Vodafone Fiji has placed more than US$10M in orders with Intervoice in the last seven years.

Vodafone Fiji chose the Intervoice IN platform for three main reasons. First, it was chosen because of its ease of migration, its ability to reuse the existing network infrastructure to support future Value Added Service (VAS) developments and its proven track-record delivering projects on time. Second, Intervoice could commit to delivering the Vodafone Fiji upgrade by 25 December 2006 to accommodate the anticipated 30% growth in its prepaid subscriber base expected from the year-end holiday shopping season. Third, Intervoices IN platform will enable Vodafone Fiji to offer its prepaid customers outbound international roaming across any network for the first time, using CAMEL signalling.

The projected growth is due to recent initiatives, such as considerable radio coverage extension, increased network switching capacity and new and innovative value added services. As Fijis sole mobile provider, Vodafone Fiji is responsible for providing accessible, sophisticated mobile services to its geographically widespread population of just over 800,000.

We are committed to keeping Fijis mobile telecommunications offering on par with the rest of the world. By extending our capacity with Intervoice, we are able to accommodate the upsurge in our subscription base and ensure that the quality of service does not drop during peak hours,??? said Aslam Khan, CEO at Vodafone Fiji. Intervoice continues to support our existing and future capacity and service requirements, which is critical for us to support our evolving subscription base.???

Intervoice is also providing a turnkey Wholesale Peer-to-Peer Top-up solution for Vodafone Fiji. The new solution will enable Vodafone to white label its top-up vouchers to wholesalers and retailers and give wholesalers the opportunity to specify a range of different top-up plans, increasing competition and choice for consumers. The current prepaid service offers limited price plans and scratch card top-up vouchers for their subscribers. With the proposed new plan, SMS top-up vouchers will complement the existing scratch card top-ups. This system will reduce costs and provide additional security against fraud.

Vodafone Fiji has been extremely committed to improving the quality and grade of its network,??? said Frank Sherlock, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Intervoice International. Vodafone Fiji has a forward-looking attitude and the alignment of technology to support future capacity and service requirements will enable Vodafone Fiji to continue to show its commitment to meet its evolving customer needs.???
