India’s Bharti Airtel Ltd. has signed a deal with Ericsson Telephone Co. and Huawei Technologies Co. to launch mobile telecommunications networks in Bangladesh.

Bharti did not give financial details of the agreements, but according t the company, Ericsson would manage majority of the company’s network capacity while Huawei will swap the existing radio network in the eastern parts of Bangladesh. The agreement includes network design, planning, implementation, project management as well as material and services for the base station sites and microwave transmission.

Most Indian telecom operators contract out the task of managing their networks to third-party vendors, saving them vast costs related with owning and maintaining the equipment used to provide wireless telephony services.

The partnerships will also make sure that the networks are ready for 3G mobile telephony services, enabling the fast roll out of 3G services at a later date.

Earlier this year, Bharti bought 70% stake in Bangladesh’s Warid Telecom for an initial investment of US$300 million.
