The government set minimum bid at EUR 495 million, which yielded no offers in the first round. Now the minimum bid slashed to EUR 88.78 million. The bids will be opened today.

Red represents the “You&Me Parole” and “Messaggi” tariffs which offer unlimited calls and SMS messages to a favourite number. Violet is for the “You&Me International” tariff which allows calls towards a favourite number any where in the world. Green is for the “Vodafone Family” tariff offering family calls.
The Fuschia colour represents the “Casa Zero New” tariff for making calls from home to all fixed numbers free of charge. Blue represents the “Vodafone Passport” tariff for calls abroad using a national tariff.
Rose is for “Infinity Messages” for sending messages to friends, Yello is for “Vodafone Ricaricami” to receive top-ups for calls received and, finally, Blue is for “Mobile Internet Data Pack” for mobile internet navigation.
Vodafone Italia has presented the HTC Magic, a touch-screen mobile phone with the Android operating system. The new model has a 3.2-inch screen and trackball navigation system, and comes equipped with HSDPA at up to 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS and a 3.2 megapixel camera. The HTC Magic also enables full access to Google Maps, Google Talk, Gmail and YouTube. It will be available in mid-April at Vodafone Italia sales points. The HTC Magic will be available for free up to EUR 199 for postpaid clients, depending on the package selected, while prepaid users will be able to acquire it for EUR 449.

The Italian regulator, AgCom, after a series of investigation aimed at the verification of MNP’s implementation and quality of service provided by the operators, has decided to impose a fine of $3.59 million on the operators in total, for violation of the regulations. Vodafone Italia has been fined for $2.15 million for violation of MNP regulations whereas Telecom Italia will have to pay $688,214 for the violation of consumer protection regulations. Opitel was fined for $446,834 for service activation not requested by subscribers. On the other hand, BT Italia and Eutelia have been fined for $154,097 each as they violated the surcharge regulations.
Telegeography writes…The UK-based BT Group is reportedly close to signing a deal which would allow its Italian division to offer mobile services to corporate customers. Business services provider BT Italia is in talks with the country’s number two cellular operator, Vodafone Italia, AFX reports quoting local newspaper Finanza & Mercati. BT has followed a similar course in its domestic market after spinning off its cellular operations several years ago. A number of other groups are also thought to be close to announcing mobile resale deals in Italy; these include retail chain Carrefour and the national postal operator Poste Italiane.
