F-Secure detects smartphones SMS Worm Sexy View virus

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Security specialist, F-Secure has detected a SMS Worm in smartphones and is named as Sexy View virus. Sexy View is a social engineering worm that uses the address book to spread itself in the smartphone. The virus itself sends a SMS to the contacts asking them to check out few pictures and link to a website. If the contacts install the application, the worm spreads to their handsets as well and repeats the process.
Sexy View is important in many ways,” Mikko Hypponen, F-Secure’s chief research officer said. “It is the first text message worm ever. It’s also the first mobile phone worm that circumvents the signature checks that are meant to secure the latest smartphones.”
