www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Zain Kenya has slashed internet access charges by 25% for the unlimited internet package service. The subscribers signing up for this service will now enjoy unlimited internet for only Sh2,995 per month, down from Sh3,999 and will also receive a free USB modem. The new subscribers to the service which is only accessible to post-paid users, will now pay a deposit of Sh5,000 down from Sh10,000.

They will be required to sign up for a minimum of 12 months to enjoy the unlimited internet access.

Zain Kenya MD, Rene Meza, said the company was now focusing on growing the data business by ensuring widespread access to the internet.
“Reliable and affordable internet will spur growth in key sectors of the economy and also
create new areas of entrepreneurship, similar to those that have been created through the
introduction of mobile telephony in Kenya,” he said.

Etisalat said it is now able to deliver one of the richest mobile browsing experiences in the world using an end-to-end all-IP network.
The operator offers a variety of mobile broadband devices, including mobile routers, modems, data cards and also iPhone and Blackberry devices. Users can register to a range of packages, aimed at casual users to heavy users.

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Paulo Zucula, Mozambique’s Minister of Transport and Communications, has unveiled plans to partly privatise incumbent mobile operator, mCel. As per the plan, minimum of 5% company’s share will be made exclusively available to Mozambicans, with the possibility of further sales to the international investment community. Zucula said, ‘mCel is working on a proposal that I believe we will have within a month, and afterwards we will submit that proposal for the government’s consideration. The proposal will say how much shares will cost, how many shares will be sold and how we will do the whole process. And from there, the government will have to approve the whole package.’

Celcom introduces HTC Magic in Malaysia

The device is developed with Outlook synchronization, Smart Dialer, and an onscreen keyboard with predictive text. The phone features 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and a trackball with zoom in/out function. The phone is accessible to subscribers from 15 June at all participating Blue Cubes outlets at a suggested retail price of MYR 2,699. Standard retail HTC Magic package will come with an 8GB microSD card. The subscribers can get HTC magic from all authorised resellers by mid July. The service entails, up to 20 Mbps internet access, a basic package of over 90 TV channels, unlimited calls to fixed numbers in France and over 100 international destinations, and a mobile plan with between 2 and 6 hours of calls per month. If the subscriber oays extra EUR 10 per month, they can make 3 hours of calls from their landline to mobile phones on any network.  Ideo’s charges will start at EUR 44.90 per month on a two-year contract, that includes unlimited SMS/MMS, internet access, e-mail and 3G+ TV. For EUR 55.90 per month, subscribers will be able to make unlimited calls after 20:00, EUR 65.90 will give them unlimited calls after 19:00 weekdays and all day on weekends, and EUR 75.90 will offer unlimited calls after 18:00 weekdays and all day on weekends. Subscribers to 3 hour, 4 hour and 6 hour call plans add EUR 6 per month for each additional hour. The subscribers who sign one-year contracts pay an additional EUR 7 monthly.
