Mobile TV market to boom in 2008 (China)

The Shanghai-based IT company Telegent Systems China has recently developed the mobile TV simulation chips, which enable the mobile phone users to watch TV on their phones free of charge.

The analysts believe that with the upcoming Beijing Olympics in 2008, the consumer demand for mobile TV market will soar. Meanwhile, this innovative technology will help domestic phone makers to overtake international mobile phone brands, which will together usher in a new era for mobile TV.

A survey forecast that in 2008, China’s mobile TV market was expected to reach RMB 2.3 billion, and the number will reach RMB 5.9 billion by 2010.

Facing the fierce competition between domestic and foreign brands, domestic phone makers will keenly seize the enormous opportunities and bring the mobile TV into people’s life. During the Beijing Olympics, the ordinary people can watch any Olympic events and news at any time free of charge.

World leading TV audience rating service company AGB Nielsen also predicted that the number of viewers for Beijing Olympics will upgrade substantially compared with that of the Athens Olympics, which will be another record high in history.
