2.6m active SIMs sold by VIPnet in 2009
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: VIPnet, a Croatian subsidiary of Telekom Austria ended 2009 with a total of 2.6 million customers. However, despite a growth of 4.7% from the end of December 2008, the subscriber base remained almost flat throughout the second half of the year.
The number of VIPnet’s customers on post-paid plans was up 13.2% year-on-year at end-2009 while with 77% increase, its mobile broadband internet subscriber base reached 137,000 at end-December.
It has also been claimed by the company that it has an overall share of 42.6% of all active SIM cards in Croatia, behind market leader T-Mobile but ahead of Tele2.
Fixed line growth reported by Telekom Austria
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: A quarterly rise in total access lines has been reported by Telekom Austria for the first time in over ten years. The company had 2.314 million at the end of December 2009 as compared to 2.309 million three months earlier.
The turn in the fortunes has been attributed to the continued strong uptake of product bundles, such as the company’s aonSuperKombi, which offers triple-services for EUR24.90 (USD35.32) per month.
A strong annual growth has also been enjoyed by the company in the broadband and aonTV segments too, in 2009. The operator had 1.02 million broadband customers as compared to 885,700 and 101,300 aonTV subscribers against 63,800 at the end of December 2008.
Telekom Austria net profit up 74% in Q2 on Mobiltel takeover
Telekom Austria reported second-quarter net profit up 74.6 percent from a year ago to EUR 130.9 million, driven by the company’s takeover of Bulgarian mobile operator Mobiltel and lower depreciation and amortisation charges. Revenues increased 16 percent to EUR 1.169 billion, with a 33 percent rise in mobile sales to EUR 710.9 million helping to offset a 1.9 percent drop in fixed-line revenues to EUR 519.3 million. EBITDA rose 20 percent to EUR 477.5 million. Telekom Austria expects full-year revenues to grow 5 percent and annual EBITDA up 10 percent, while the company raised its forecast for operating and net profit and now expects annual growth of more than its previous outlook of 20 percent. For the period 2005-9, the company predicts a CAGR of 2 percent for revenues, 2.5 percent for EBITDA and 13 percent for net profit. Telekom Austria also expects a reduction in net debt and higher dividend for the year.
