Telekom Deutschland continues to deploy HSPA+ in rural Lower Saxony (Germany)
Telekom Deutschland continues to deploy UMTS in rural areas to offer broadband services, where no broadband services are available currently.
In three municipalities in Lower Saxony: Vienenburg, Scheden and Hemsloh, the operator upgraded its network with HSPA+ technology to offer mobile broadband with a maximum download speed of 21.6 Mbps.
Telekom expands HSPA coverage to Tannheim (Germany)
Telekom Deutschland has expanded its mobile network coverage to Tannheim with UMTS/HSPA technology.
The network enables customers in the municipality to access internet at a maximum download speed of 21 Mbps. The expansion is a part of Telekom’s rural broadband program which uses (V)DSL, UMTS/HSPA and LTE to close the white gaps in broadband coverage in Germany.
Telekom launches UMTS mobile data service in Nordhausen (Germany)
Telekom Deutschland has announced that it will make UMTS mobile internet services available in Nordhausen in the state of Thueringen with immediate effect.
The service support speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps and is available to residents in Nordhausen-Sundhausen and Nordhausen-Steinbruecken. Users can also use the UMTS network to go online from their home PC with a Telekom UMTS stick.
Telekom launches DSL, UMTS broadband in Bavaria
Telekom Deutschland has announced that people can now enjoy the availability of DSL broadband services, with speeds up to 16 Mbps, in Engelthal in the county of Nuernberger Land, Bavaria.
Services to over 40 households in the district of Sendelbach are available with immediate effect. Moreover, as a part of its continued roll-out of broadband services in rural areas, the operator has launched UMTS mobile internet services in the communities of Aresing and Geltendorf, allowing customers to get online with data speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps.
Telekom boost UMTS mobile data services in Bavaria
Telekom Deutschland has expanded its UMTS mobile internet services in rural Bavaria.
With UMTS mobile data services, residents in the community of Berg will be able to get the speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps. The improved coverage will mainly benefit residents in the areas of Berg, Maxhoehe, and Rottmannshoehe. In addition, UMTS mobile data services are available for the community of Bad Bayersoien.
Ucell inks bilateral agreement with Smart Mobile and Telecom New Zealand (Uzbekistan)
Uzbekistan-based mobile services provider Ucell has added new roaming partners. Ucell has signed a bilateral agreement with Latelz in Cambodia (Smart Mobile) and Telecom New Zealand.
The company will now allow prepaid users to roam on the Viva network in Kuwait, on Qtel’s network in Qatar and on Telekom Deutschland’s network in Germany.
Moreover, Ucell added Telecel in Bolivia as a GPRS and 3G roaming partner.
Telekom upgrades network in Geisenhausen (Germany)
Telekom Deutschland has upgraded its UMTS network with HSPA+ technology in Geisenhausen (Bavaria).
Following the upgrade, all households in the municipality will now be able to access internet with maximum download speed of 21.6 Mbps.
The upgrade is a part of Telekom’s strategy to upgrade/expand its DSL and mobile network to offer broadband in rural areas, where currently no broadband services are available.
Telekom Deutschland to launch 2 new mobile data tariffs (Germany)
Telekom Deutschland is all set to expand its mobile broadband tariffs from 5 April this year with two new data tariffs for heavy users.
The tariffs are called Web’n'Walk Connect XL and XXL. The tariffs will offer 10 GB at 21.6 Mbps and 20 GB at 42.2 Mbps for US$75.94 and US$103.58 per month respectively.
After using the included data volumes, the speeds are downgraded to GPRS level until a new month begins. Both tariffs include a USB modem for mobile broadband access and are available as SIM-only tariffs for US$6.91 per month.
