Telenet to sell iPhone 4 (Belgium)

Belgian cable operator Telenet has announced its plans to start the sales of Apple iPhone 4.

Few details of the offer are known yet, but the phone is already displayed on the company’s website.

Belgium to hold auction for 4th 3G license in Sep

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The auction for the fourth 3G license will be conducted by the Belgian government along with the auction of five spectrum blocks for LTE, in the month of September. The first auction will be for the UMTS license in which, 15 MHz block has to yield at least EUR 80 million, or EUR 40 million for 5 MHz blocks. The license had no buyers in the auction which took place in 2001.

Telenet and Voo, the two cable operators in the country have expressed their interest in the auctions. EUR 150 million has already been paid by the Belgacom, Mobistar and KPN Belgian in 2001 for the blocks.

The licenses for five 2.6 GHz spectrum have been divided into four blocks of 15 MHz for LTE, expected to be sold for at least. 50 MHz Wimax license will also be auctioned for at least EUR 25 million.

Telenet & KDG to implement DOSCIS 3.0

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: With the aim to raise maximum broadband internet download speeds to 100Mbps, Cable operators Telenet of Belgium and Germany’s Kabel Deutschland (KDG) have both announced the implementation of the DOSCIS 3.0 standard.

‘Telenet FiberNet’ 100Mbps high speed internet from mid-March at EUR99 (USD135) a month will be launched by the Belgian company across its entire network.

Initially, KDG will offer new service in Hamburg, but plans to expand the offering to the cities of Munich, Berlin and Hanover within six months. Two packages bundling internet and telephony services with unlimited calling to domestic fixed line customers are the two options provided to the subscribers.

Wal-Mart Stores reports that it is not trying to dissuade movie studios from working with other forms of distribution, such as Apple’s iTunes download service. The New York Post last week reported that the world’s largest retailer has warned Hollywood it may retaliate against studios for selling movies on iTunes, a move that could hurt Wal-Mart’s DVD sales.

IPMobile finalizes an agreement with
