Kyivstar launches M2M SIMs for business subscribers (Ukraine)

Kyivstar is offering M2M SIMs for its business subscribers. The 6x5x1mm chips are designed to fit in small devices for exchanging business data.

The new SIMs support GPRS/EDGE, CSD and SMS technologies. The operator offers a free testing period for subscribers.

MTS subscriber base drops in March (Russia)

MTS has announced that its consolidated subscriber base totaled 103.79 million on 31 March, down by 0.3 percent month-on-month and increased by 6.1 percent year-on-year.

The number dropped to 71.46 million in Russia, declined by 0.6 percent from February. MTS claims the decline is seasonal, as well as related to the end of some regional and alternative sales channels.

The subscriber base grew by 3.4 percent year-on-year in Russia. In Ukraine, it increased to 18.28 million, Increase by 0.07 percent month-on-month and increase by 5.4 percent year-on-year.

The number totaled 9.11 million in Uzbekistan, improve by 0.1 percent month-on-month and increase by 23.5 percent year-on-year. In Armenia, the base grew 2.5 percent from February and 20.9 percent from a year earlier to 2.55 million. The subscriber base of MTS Belarus reached 4.75 million, increase by 0.2 percent month-on-month and increase by 4 percent year-on-year.

3 Ukrainian operators intends to develop CDMA-450 licenses

Three Ukrainian operators have informed the Ukrainian national telecommunications regulator NKRZ of their intention to develop CDMA-450 services.

MTS Ukraina and Ukrainian Special Systems are interested in receiving licenses in Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Odessa, Crimea and Sebastopol regions, Tribuna reported. Zaporizhya-based operator Gerkon is interested in the license for services across the country.

MTS Ukraine is currently the only Ukrainian operator providing services under the CDMA-450 standard, with a subscriber base at over 200,000.

MTS Ukraine upgrades business management system

MTS Ukraine has completed the upgradation of its business management system. The project was carried out in cooperation with Russian IT Company Sitronics, which installed the 6.0 version of SAP ERP software.

 

Detecon International focuses on LTE, WiMax project in Ukraine

Deutsche Telekom unit Detecon International and four other companies have submitted applications for the Open World project tender in the Ukraine.

It is reported that the project will be developed using either LTE or WiMax. The winner will prepare technical and economic grounding for the project. A national wireless network for educational needs will be deployed under the project.

 

Freshtel offers free broadband services (Ukraine)

Freshtel is offering free broadband services for a month for subscribers purchasing the Impression ImPAD 0410 tablet with WiMax modem from Ukrainian company Navigator.

The Intel Atom-powered tablet features an 11.6-inch screen and Full HD 1080p video. The tablet can be ordered online.

Ukrtelecom increases traffic volume on business data plan (Ukraine)

Ukrtelecom has increased mobile internet traffic five times, to 350MB, for subscribers on its Business Internet 3 tariff.

The subscription price is unchanged. The service is also accessible when using national roaming services.

Peoplenet launches full services without contract (Ukraine)

Peoplenet has introduced the new Mobile A tariff, which is available without a subscription contract.

The tariff includes unlimited calls within the network, 120 minutes and 50 SMS to other Ukrainian mobile networks, as well as 250MB of internet traffic. The monthly subscription costs US$7.52.

 

 

MTS Ukraine expands loyalty bonuses for prepaid customers

MTS Ukraine has expanded its MTS Bonus loyalty programme for prepaid users to offer SMS bundles as bonuses under the programme.

Bundles including 20, 50, 100 or 200 SMS are offered in exchange for points accumulated under the loyalty programme. Bonus points can also be exchanged for top-ups.

 

MTS Ukraine launches Edge modems

MTS Ukraine has introduced the EGDE-Connecxt offer for subscribers. The offer includes the ZTE MF180S or Huawei E153 modems for Edge/GPRS services at US$ 0.13 and activation of the EDGE Connect package.

The monthly subscription for the service costs US$9.39.
