Maroc Telecom grows H1 revenues 19.5%

Maroc Telecom reported first-half revenues of MAD 13.007billion, up 19.5 percent form a year earlier, driven by its mobile and internet activities and expansion outside its home market of Morocco. Excluding takeovers, comparable sales rose 10.1 percent. Second-quarter sales reached MAD 6.893 billion, up 22.8 percent or 9.7 percent on a comparable basis. Mobile revenues for the first half rose 17.1 percent to MAD 7.900 billion. The company added 1 million mobile subscribers in the first six months of the year for a total 11.713 million at the end of June. Average revenue per mobile user fell 8.5 percent from a year ago to MAD 107.3, as higher volumes and customer numbers were offset by promotional pricing and unlimited offers. Churn increased to 23.9 percent following the introduction of number porting. Fixed-lines revenues grew 3.9 percent to MAD 4.727 billion. Maroc Telecom added 14,000 fixed lines in the first half for a total of 1.280 million, while ADSL customers grew by 54,000 to 438,000.
