Telekom expands HSPA coverage to Tannheim (Germany)

Telekom Deutschland has expanded its mobile network coverage to Tannheim with UMTS/HSPA technology.

The network enables customers in the municipality to access internet at a maximum download speed of 21 Mbps. The expansion is a part of Telekom’s rural broadband program which uses (V)DSL, UMTS/HSPA and LTE to close the white gaps in broadband coverage in Germany.

 

Telkom Austria signs one millionth broadband customer

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: 10 years after launching broadband services in the country, Telekom Austria subscribed its one millionth broadband customers. Sport Waldner sports association got the honor to become the one millionth customers of the telco.

97 percent of Austrian homes are now covered by the company’s broadband network. VDSL2 GigaNetz broadband network is also being rolled out by the operator with an aim to reach 750,000 homes in rural areas.

Telefonica & Alca-lu deploy DSL line

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: In order to support delivery of service packages over VDSL2, DSL line shipped has been deployed by Telefonica along with Alcatel-Lucent as a part of Telefonica’s global network transformation project.

The VDSL2 line is the 200 millionth DSL line deployed by Alcatel-Lucent.

TeliaSonera contracts Ericsson for network upgrade

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: With an aim to offer media-rich services to both its residential and business clients, Ericsson has been contracted by TeliaSonera for the up gradation of its broadband access network from ADSL to VDSL2.

EDA 1200 based on VDSL2 technology and related installation services will be delivered by Ericsson under the agreement.

TeliaSonera operations in Sweden, Denmark and Norway are covered in the contract according to which one million access lines based on VDSL2 technology will be supplied by Ericsson to the operator.
Deployment starts in Sweden and will run over the next 12 months.

Indian telco BSNL unveils 24Mbps VDSL service

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: India’s fastest xDSL-based commercial internet services has been launched by state-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) offering downstream connection speeds of up to 24Mbps using Very High Bitrate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) technology.

However, the top-end speeds will be gained only by the customers living within 500 meters of an enabled exchange while those subscribers within 1km of the node should be able to connect at speeds of up to 16Mbps.

INR9,999 (USD216.4) per month will be charged for 24Mbps service while the cost of lower level 16Mbps service will be INR4,999 per month.
