Zain’s competitive offerings boost its market share (Kenya)
Zain Kenya has reported that since the launch of its Vuka Plus tariff last month it has anticipated a stable growth of its subscriber base in 2009 despite the global economic recession.
According to a study in Q4’07, it is seen that nearly 1 million people in Kenya, have acquired SIM cards for the first time every month, out of which more than 50% were holding Zain SIM cards.
Zain Kenya Managing Director Rene Meza, reportedly said, that the current offerings has enabled the operator to recapture more than 5% of the market share in past 6 months.
“Vuka plus has enabled us to sustain the momentum since it has largely solved the problem of dual simming. This tariff enables subscribers to make calls within the network and to others at the most affordable rates in the market,” said Mr. Meza.
