Vringo, Inc., a provider of video ringtones and next generation personalization solutions for mobile sevices has announced that it has commercially launched its video ringtone platform service with Orange UK.

This launch follows Vringo’s previously-announced carrier partnership with Everything Everywhere Limited, which operates the Orange brand.

The UK is one of the most robust and advanced telecommunications markets in the world, and we believe a successful commercial launch with Orange will drive our growth. In addition to the launch with Orange, they anticipate announcing additional distribution channels and new content to enhance and support our commercial launch in the UK.

The Vringo video ringtone service consists of a Web, WAP and mobile app experience that enables customers to create, download and share high-quality video ringtones. Orange UK customers will have access to all of the Vringo platform’s service capabilities including Vringo’s extensive content library of over 5,000 video ringtone clips.

Vringo’s fully-hosted carrier platform is currently deployed for international partners in six markets with new launches anticipated in the next quarter. Vringo’s scalable cloud-based distributed application architecture enables the carrier’s subscribers to browse and download mobile videos, set them as video ringtones and instantly share them with friends.

In addition to carrier partners, Vringo has content partnerships with major content providers including EMI, T-Pain, Tiesto, Muhammad Ali, Turner, Marvel, Discovery Mobile, RTL, Ingrooves and Agence France-Presse.

The Samsung Suede with the Cricket Muve Music service will be available at select Cricket Wireless stores beginning in January 2011. The Cricket unlimited plan including Muve Music is $55 per month while the Samsung Suede has a M.S.R.P. of $199.

Mobile phone operator Vodafone has launched three RIM Blackberry smartphones – the Curve 8520, the Curve 9300 and the Pearl 9105 – to its range of PAYG handsets.

The Curve 8520 comes in black and violet and costs US$257.93 while the Curve 9300 is available in black and red and is priced at US$370.78.

Both have QWERTY keyboards as well as 2.4-inch screens with a 320×240 pixels resolution. The third model, the Pearl 9105 has a smaller screen and is less bulky than the two others but still costs US$370.78.

PAYG Blackberry users will also get the free Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) which includes email, applications and Blackberry’s Instant Messaging service for free until June 2011.

Vodafone is also providing users with a number of freebies, called Vodafone Freebees which  includes a Top-Up and Get Text and Web offer that gives customers 500MB of monthly data allowance and 300 texts for free when topping up £10 with the possibility of getting 10% of your top-up every month.

ARPU drivers like mobile TV and music have been eclipsed by mobile Internet and e-mail services indicating need for the carriers to offer practical” services first to the mobile service users. Carriers can also deploy popular web activities as revenue-generating data services due to 10 percent increase in mobile social networking and navigation services.

According to Director of Health and Mobile Product Research, Parks Associates, Harry Wang, the strong growth rate during the past two years in the usage of mobile Internet, social networking, e-mail, and navigation indicates eagerness in consumers for mobile applications offering convenience and loaded features.

Wang added that Smartphone will penetrate more than 30% of broadband households in US in 2009. Carriers will target these 20 million households to market their mobile data services.
