Zain Kuwait slashes call charges to Bangladesh

Zain Kuwait announced that it will be offering a 50% discount on all SMS messages to Bangladesh. the operator will also be offering a 20% discount on international calls to Bangladesh as they celebrate Independence Day on  March 26.

The offer applies for one day only for both postpaid and prepaid customers.

Etisalat still interested in Zain’s deal (UAE)

UAE’s Etisalat spokesperson Ahmad Bin Ali has stated that the company is still interested in buying a 46% stake in Zain Kuwait even after the expiration of its $12 billion bid.

Ali announced that Etisalat’s ongoing interest  after Kuwati family conglomerate Kharafi Group, Zain’s major shareholder stated that it doesn’t want to sell its stake to Etisalat anymore after the company didn’t meet the deadline for due diligence.

According to Ali, Etisalat is not sure whether Kharafi’s stake is still available for the sale.

 

Zain Kuwait sign managed contracts with Motorola

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Three-year managed services contract has been signed between the Networks business of Motorola and Zain Kuwait. Zain Kuwait’s 3G networks will be operated and managed by Motorola under the contract besides handling the design, planning, support and optimization to provide high-quality operational and customer experiences.

The optimization of the existing 2G network will be lead by Zain Kuwait’s internal team. In October 2009, Zain Iraq signed a contract with Motorola to improve network performance, to operate and maintain it, as well as to provide training to its technical support team.

There are existing contracts between Zain and Motorola in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Jordan for several different technologies, network domains and service functions.

Zain Kuwait implements first phase of KNP (Kuwait)

Zain Kuwait announces the implementation of the first phase of new KNP, which adds a digit “9″ to all the company’s pre-paid as well as post-paid mobile numbers.
“As of 12 a.m Friday, the company will start the process of updating its cutomer data base to accommodate the new digit,” said Zain Chief Excecutive Officer (CEO), Barrak Al-Sabeeh. The process is likely to continue till 10am.
He added “this exercise will cause temporary disturbance to the company’s traffic of data transfer and recharge transactions, it will temporarily disable calls to the Zain Customer Care Center(107) and it will entail closing down the company’s 24/7 Airport Branch up to 10 a.m of that day.”
During the first phase, both the 7 digit and 8 digit mobile numbers will be work regardless if the extra 9 digit is added before the Zain line.
The CEO extends apologies for the inconvinience caused, as the aim of the service shutdown is upgradation of data base.
Zain will be moving to second and final stage on October 17, which will affect 8 digit numbers.
