Telefonica has rolled out its 3.5G Plus mobile technology in around 20 Spanish cities. The service will allow mobile customers to send information and data at up to 1.4-Mbps, and receive information and data at up to 3.6-Mbps. By end-2008, the company aims to conclude the rollout to the rest of the Spanish capitals. Customers will require the new Huawei E270 USB modems to access the technology. The modem is self-installable, and allows data transmission at up to 2-Mbps and file downloading at up to 7.2-Mbps. Telefonica is a pioneer in Spain in the rollout of HSPA technology. This technology is aimed especially at professionals who need to send large volumes of information from mobile devices in the quickest time possible. The technology will also help people with their everyday lives, such as sending and receiving large-volume e-mails, or using peer-to-peer calls.
