T-Mobile has told Catherine Zeta Jones that she is being dropped as the face of the company.
The actress has appeared in adverts for the mobile phone operator and acted as a spokeswoman since she was signed up in 2003. Her contract, which ends in early 2007, will not be renewed.
T-Mobile wants a more “man on the street” image, according to ITV, to help its internet products take customers from telecoms rivals.
Spokesman Peter Dobrow, thanking her for her efforts, said: “When Catherine Zeta Jones agreed to be our spokesperson four years ago, we could never have imagined the cache appeal she would have brought to T-Mobile.
“Her style, credibility and integrity have been a tremendous benefit for our company and our brand,” he continued. “We could not have asked for a better partner in launching T-Mobile than Catherine Zeta Jones.”
