 ZTE and Huawei Technologies won CDMA equipment contracts from China Telecom (China)

Huawei Technologies and Alcatel- Lucent have won the CNY 27.9 billion worth CDMA equipment contracts from state-owned telecommunications operator China Telecom.
China Telecom has revealed the results of the bidding invitation for CDMA equipment, which was won by Huawei and ZTE. Both the firms won about 40% of the orders, followed by Alcatel-Lucent, with approximately 20%, sources reveal. Fujian Fujitsu Communication Software also got a part in the contract.

In the first round of bidding the mobile operator will concentrate on access network and core network that may cost not less than CNY 16 billion.
ZTE won nearly 50% of access network contracts, followed by Alcatel-Lucent with 20%. The other orders were won by Huawei, AsiaInfo Holdings and FFCS. Tencent Holdings Limited, a popular IT company in the nation, was licensed to act as the telecoms operator’s nationwide WAP portal.

ZTE will be operating short message centers in 12 provinces across the country and Internet short message gateways in 10 provinces and was entitled to run China Telecom’s three nationwide platforms including ISAG Router, ENUMDNS and mobile positioning system.
Huawei will be running the telecoms operator’s business releasing center, MMS inter-working gateway, KJAVA downloading center nationwide as well as MMS inter-working gateway in 10 provinces.

Alcatel-Lucent has won 50% of the orders for WAP gateway, 20% of the MMS centers, and 30% of the ISMP and ISAG in 10 northern provinces.
